Women's Basketball Drops Tough 62-59 Contest At Wayne State
OVERVIEW – WAYNE STATE
SCORE: Wayne State Warriors 62, Northwood Timberwolves 59

FIRST QUARTER
- The Timberwolves started the game strong, scoring nine of the first 10 points of the game.
- WSU chipped into the lead, but Northwood led throughout and eventually held a 19-12 lead after one.
- Northwood used the 3-point line to take the lead in the first quarter, finishing 7-16 overall from the floor (43-8 percent). The Timberwolves went 5-8 from beyond the arc.
- Wayne State struggled from the floor in the first, making just 2-13 overall (15.4 percent). The Warriors stayed close thanks to going 8-10 from the foul line.
SECOND QUARTER
- After the Timberwolves pushed their lead to as many as 10 early in the second, foul trouble and cold shooting cost Northwood.
- NU missed their final eight shots of the half and had six different players have to sit at the end of the half with two fouls.
- That allowed the Warriors to score the final 12 points of the half to take a 35-28 lead at the break.
- NU was just 3-17 from the floor in the second (17.6 percent). Northwood was 2-9 from the 3-point line.
- Wayne State jumped up to 41.2 percent in the second (7-17) and 3-6 from 3-point range. The Warriors also continued to get to the foul line, going 6-8 in the quarter.
THIRD QUARTER
- NU cut into the Warrior lead in the third quarter, cutting the advantage down to one late at 41-40.
- WSU hit a 3-pointer as time expired to send the game to the fourth with the Warriors leading 44-40.
- Northwood jumped up to 50.0 percent from the floor (7-14) in the third. The Timberwolves also made three triples and was 7-7 from the foul line.
- Wayne State fell back to 33.3 percent in the third quarter (5-15), missing all seven of their 3-point attempts. SVSU was 6-8 from the foul line.
FOURTH QUARTER
- Northwood tied the score early in the fourth quarter at 46-46, but the Timberwolves were never able to take the lead.
- NU had seven chances in the final 1:27 of the game to either tie or take the lead but were unable to convert.
- The Timberwolves got off a pair of 3-point attempts in their final possession that did not fall, giving the Warriors the victory.
- Northwood went 6-17 from the floor in the fourth (35.3 percent). NU was 3-7 from 3-point range and 4-6 from the foul line.
- Wayne State finished at 60.0 percent in the fourth (6-10).
