Women's Basketball Defeats Ohio Dominican 91-48

RECAP: Northwood women's basketball ends 2021 with a 91-48 win over Ohio Dominican Saturday afternoon (December 18).
FIRST QUARTER
- The Timberwolves scored the first six points of the game and led the rest of the way.
- Northwood's eight point advantage at the end of the first quarter (27-19) matched their biggest lead of the quarter.
- Northwood used the 3-point line to take the lead in the first quarter, finishing 11-23 overall (47.8 percent). The Timberwolves connected on five triples in the opening quarter (5-12).
- Ohio Dominican had a strong shooting opening quarter, finishing at 8-14 overall (57.1 percent). ODU was 1-6 from 3-point range and 2-2 from the foul line.
SECOND QUARTER
- Northwood got their lead up to 14 early in the second, only to see the Panthers fight back.
- ODU got the lead back down to eight late in the half before the Timberwolves held a 41-3 1 lead at the break.
- Both teams fell back with their shooting in the second – NU finished at 35.3 percent (6-17) while going 2-9 from 3-point range.
- Ohio Dominican finished the second at 38.5 percent (5-13). The Panthers were 2-5 from 3-point range.
THIRD QUARTER
- NU scored the first four points of the third quarter and controlled the rest of the game.
- A late Northwood run pushed the lead to 63-39 at the end of the third, capping a quarter in which the Timberwolves out-scored the Panthers 22-8.
- Northwood ended the third with the advantage thanks to the foul line. NU was 6-14 overall (42.9 percent) and 1-5 from 3-point range, but made all nine of their free throw attempts.
- Ohio Dominican struggled in the third, going 3-12 overall (25.0 percent) and 0-6 from beyond the 3-point arc. ODU made both of their free throw attempts.
FOURTH QUARTER
- Northwood controlled the fourth quarter as well, not allowing the Panthers to get any closer than 27.
- The Timberwolves' 43 point lead at the end of the game matched their biggest of the day
- Northwood scored 28 fourth-quarter points, thanks to going 9-13 from the floor (69.2 percent) overall. NU was also 4-6 from 3-point range and 6-6 from the foul line.
- Ohio Dominican was just 3-14 from the field in the fourth (21.4 percent).
