Women's Basketball Defeats Davenport 89-49

SCORE: Northwood Timberwolves 89, Davenport Panthers 49

RECAP: After trailing early, Northwood women's basketball dominates play in 89-49 win over Davenport Saturday afternoon (January 8).
FIRST QUARTER
- Davenport got off to a great start in the game, making six of their first seven shots to open up a 16-4 lead.
- With DU leading 18-6, the Timberwolves finished the quarter with a run, scoring the final 11 points in 2:58 to make the score 18-17 after one.
- After starting the game 3-12 from the floor, Northwood made five of their final seven shots of the quarter to finish at 42.1 percent overall (8-19). The Timberwolves were 1-6 from beyond the arc and missed both of their free throws.
- Davenport's offense had nearly the opposite results from Northwood in the quarter – after starting 7-10 from the floor, the Panthers missed their final five shots to end up at 46.7 percent overall (7-15). DU was 3-7 from 3-point range and 1-2 from the foul line.
SECOND QUARTER
- The Timberwolves kept the momentum going into the second quarter, controlling the period from the start.
- NU took their first lead of the day at 21-18 and kept rolling, eventually out-scoring Davenport 28-7 in the quarter to open up a 45-25 lead at the break.
- Northwood jumped up to 56.2 percent from the floor in the second, making 9-16 overall. The Timberwolves were 3-5 from the floor and 7-9 from the foul line.
- DU dropped back to 3-12 from the floor in the second (25.0 percent) while committing eight turnovers.
THIRD QUARTER
- An early 3-pointer for Davenport cut the Northwood lead to 19, but that proved to be the last time the Panthers were within 20.
- The Timberwolves got the lead to as many as 32 before holding a 69-40 edge heading to the fourth.
- NU's hot offense continued to roll in the third, going 9-17 overall (52.9 percent) while making 3-6 from 3-point range and all three of their free throws.
- Davenport ended the third at 35.3 percent (6-17) overall. The Panthers were 2-6 from beyond the 3-point arc and 1-2 from the foul line.
FOURTH QUARTER
- The Northwood lead stayed above 29 the rest of the game.
- NU led by as many as 42 before winning by 40.
- The Timberwolves were 7-16 from the floor (43.8 percent) in the fourth while making 3-6 from three and all three of their free throws.
- Davenport ended the fourth at 25.0 percent (4-16) while missing all seven of their 3-point attempts.
