Women's Basketball Defeats Lake Superior State 89-57

RECAP: Northwood women's basketball makes it nine wins in its last 10 games with a 89-57 win over Lake Superior State Saturday afternoon (February 12).
FIRST QUARTER
- The Timberwolves used a late push in the opening quarter to take a seven point lead after 10 minutes of play.
- NU scored the final five points of the first to take a 20-13 lead after one.
- Northwood ended the opening quarter going 7-18 overall, good for 38.9 percent. The Timberwolves were 3-6 from 3-point range and 3-3 from the foul line.
- LSSU went 5-13 in the opening quarter from the floor (38.5 percent). The Lakers were 1-7 from the 3-point line and 2-3 from the free throw line.
SECOND QUARTER
- The Timberwolves took over the game around the midway point of the second quarter.
- The NU lead was 28-16 when Northwood scored 15 of the final 18 points of the half to make the score 43-19 at the break.
- The Lakers struggles from the floor in the second, making just 2-10 overall (20.0 percent). LSSU was 0-5 from the 3-point line and 2-6 from the foul line.
- Northwood jumped up at 47.6 percent in the second overall, making 10 of their 21 attempts. NU was 2-7 from the 3-point line and 1-3 from the foul line.
THIRD QUARTER
- The Timberwolves maintained a comfortable lead throughout the third, not allowing the Lakers to get any close than 22.
- NU's lead stood at 65-39 heading to the final quarter.

- The Lakers jumped up to 47.1 percent from the floor, making 8-17 overall. They were 1-5 from the 3-point line and 3-4 from the foul line.
FOURTH QUARTER
- The Timberwolves stayed in control in the final quarter, keeping the lead above 24 the rest of the way.
- NU's 32-point lead at the end of the game was their biggest of the day.
