Women's Basketball Defeats Davenport 71-64

SCORE: Northwood Timberwolves 71, Davenport Panthers 64

RECAP: Women's Basketball comes alive in the fourth quarter to earn a 71-64 road win over Davenport Monday night (February 21).
FIRST QUARTER
- Northwood scored the opening two points of the game and led throughout the opening half.
- NU jumped out to a 13-4 lead, but the Panthers responded down the stretch. DU scored 11 of the final 15 points to make the score 17-15 after one quarter.
- Northwood was 6-18 from the floor in the first quarter, making 6-18 overall. NU was 3-9 from the 3-point line and 2-3 at the foul line.
- Davenport ended the first shooting 37.5 percent overall (6-16). The Panthers were 3-8 from the 3-point arc and did not attempts a free throw.
SECOND QUARTER
- Much like the opening quarter, Northwood held a solid lead before a late push by Davenport closed the gap.
- NU led 32-22 with 2:37 remaining when the Panthers scored the final seven points to make the score 32-29 at the break
- The Timberwolves shot 45.5 percent from the floor in the quarter, making 5-11 overall. Northwood was 1-4 from 3-point range and 2-4 from the foul line.
- Davenport ended the second at 40.0 percent (6-15). They were 1-7 from the 3-point line and 1-4 at the foul line.
THIRD QUARTER
- Davenport took their first lead of the game at 38-36 with 5:27 remaining in the third.
- The Panthers kept the momentum going, going up by as many as nine before taking a 47-41 lead to the fourth quarter.
- DU out-scored Northwood 18-9 in the quarter, which showed in the shooting numbers. The Panthers were 8-14 from the floor overall (57.1 percent) while making 2-3 from the 3-point line.
- Northwood struggled in the third with their shooting, making just 4-15 overall (26.7 percent) NU was 1-6 from the 3-point line and missed all three of their free throw attempts.
FOURTH QUARTER
- After struggling in the third quarter, the Northwood offense came alive in the final quarter to earn the win.
- NU used a 15-4 run in the fourth to turn a six point deficit into a 60-54 lead with 3:36 remaining.
- Northwood led 67-59 with 43 seconds remaining, but the Panthers would not go away, scoring five straight points in 16 seconds to get within three at 67-64.
- The Timberwolves responded by going 4-4 from the foul line in the final moments of the game to earn the win.
- Northwood shot 47.6 percent from the floor in the final quarter, making 10-21 overall. NU made just one of six from the 3-point arc but did make all nine of their free throws in the final 10 minutes.
- Davenport fell back to 31.3 percent in the fourth (5-16). The Panthers were 1-7 from the 3-point line and 6-10 on free throws.
