Women's Basketball Opens Season With 69-50 Win Over SVSU

GAME STORY
- It was a fast start offensively for both teams early, as Northwood led 13-12 with 4:50 remaining in the first quarter.
- At that point of the game, the two teams were a combined 7-16 from the floor (44 percent).
- The defenses were the story of the rest of the half, as the teams combined to go 8-45 over the final 15:10 of the half (17.8 percent).
- Northwood held the lead for the majority of the half (13:21 to 2:42 for SVSU) and was up 28-22 at the break.
- Saginaw Valley committed 18 turnovers in the first half, while Northwood went just 2-20 from 3-point range.
- NU set the tone for the remainder of the game to start the third quarter, scoring the first nine points in just over two minutes to extend the advantage to 37-22.
- Later the Cardinals cut the lead to 11, but Northwood finished the quarter strong to go up 50-32 heading to the fourth.
- The Timberwolves maintained control the remainder of the game, leading by as many as 26 and not allowing SVSU to get any closer than 18.
