RECAP: Third-ranked Ashland controls the first and fourth quarters in a 93-54 win over Northwood women's basketball Saturday afternoon (December 10).

GAME STORY

  • Ashland set the tone for the day right away. With the score 2-2, the Eagles posted an 18-0 run over a span of 5:55 to lead 20-2.
  • The Eagles eventually led 29-7 after one quarter.
  • Northwood played much better at the start of the second quarter, out-scoring Ashland 18-10 over the opening six minutes to get back within 14 at 39-25.
  • The Eagles responded by controlling the remainder of the quarter, going on a 13-4 run to finish the half for a 52-29 lead at the break.
  • While the Timberwolves played better in the third, NU was not able to make up much ground. Northwood made up one point in the quarter to send the game to the fourth with the Eagles on top 66-44.
  • Much like the start of the game, Ashland dominated the start of the fourth. AU netted the first 18 points of the quarter to push their lead to 40.
  • The Eagles led by as many as 41 before taking the game by 36.
