RECAP: Women's Basketball opens the new year with their third straight win, defeating Northern Michigan 77-62 Monday (January 2).
GAME STORY
- Northern Michigan scored the first four points of the game for the early advantage.
- With NMU leading 9-8, Northwood went on a 9-0 run to go up 17-9.
- Northwood eventually led 22-15 after one quarter.
- Northern Michigan got within five early in the second quarter, but that is as close as they would get the remainder of the half.
- The Timberwolves finished the second scoring the final seven points to take their biggest lead of the opening 20 minutes at 39-26.
- Northern Michigan had some momentum going late in in the third quarter, cutting the Northwood lead down 49-44 in the final seconds.
- But the Timberwolves kicked off a big run with a Maddie Voelker 3-pointer in the final seconds to get the lead back to eight at 52-44 heading to the fourth.
- The buzzer beater started a 15-3 run that made the Timberwolves lead 64-47.
- NMU got no closer than 12 the rest of the way, while Northwood's advantage got to as many as 19.
