Women's Basketball Earns 92-74 Road Win Over Cedarville

RECAP:  Northwood women's basketball rides red-hot first half offense to a 92-74 road win over Cedarville Thursday night (February 2).

GAME STORY

  • Cedarville held a 9-6 lead five minutes into the game.
  • At one point in the opening quarter, Northwood missed seven straight jump shots. The offense responded late in the quarter, as the Timberwolves scored 10 points in the final two minutes of the first. That allowed the Timberwolves to go up 21-11 after one.
  • Northwood remained hot early in the second quarter as well, pouring in 14 points in less than three minutes to push the lead to 21 (35-21). NU was 4-4 from 3-point range in the opening 2:51 of the quarter.
  • NU stayed in control the remainder of the half, pushing the lead to as many as 25 before holding a 53-33 advantage at the break.
  • The Timberwolves' 32-point second quarter saw the team going 11-16 from the floor overall (68.8 percent) while making 6-9 from beyond the 3-point arc (66.7 percent).
  • Cedarville came out fast in the second half, out-scoring Northwood 16-4 over the opening 3:53 of the third quarter to cut the NU lead to 57-49.
  • The Timberwolves settled down at that point, keeping the lead above 10 for the final 5:54 of the third. The score eventually stood at 72-60 heading to the fourth.
  • Northwood maintained control in the fourth, not allowing the Yellow Jackets to get any closer than 11.
  • A 14-4 NU run got the lead back up to 21 at 90-69 to put the game away.

  • Todd became the third player in program history to make 200 career 3-pointers, now standing with 203 in her time at Northwood. She is now tied with Maddy Seeley for second in Northwood history in 3-pointers made, trailing only Rachel Church (265).
  • Todd also moved to 13th on the Northwood all-time scoring list (1,164 points), moving past Gabrielle Rivette (1,144).  
  • Over her last five games, DiMilia is averaging 13 points and 10 rebounds per game.
