RECAP: Northwood women's basketball sees its 2022-23 season come to an end with a 73-63 loss at Malone in the G-MAC Tournament Quarterfinals Tuesday night (February 28).
GAME STORY
- Malone started the game strong, opening the contest with an 11-2 run.
- The lead grew to as many as 10 before Northwood responded. Eight consecutive points cut the Pioneers lead to 15-13.
- Malone eventually led 20-19 after one quarter.
- The Timberwolves took their first lead of the day (27-26) with less than five minutes remaining in the second.
- The Pioneers put up seven straight points early in the third quarter that pushed their lead to 45-36 with 6:20 remaining.
- NU got within six later in the quarter but got no closer the rest of the quarter. Malone's lead stood at 54-44 heading to the fourth.
- After trailing by 13 early in the final quarter, Northwood gave themselves a chance down the stretch. The Timberwolves got within four at 63-59 with under four minutes remaining.
- MU responded with the key run to close out the victory, scoring seven straight points to push the lead to 11 on their way to the win.
