Women's Basketball Loses To #2 Grand Valley State 75-71

RECAP: Northwood Women's Basketball battles to the end but falls to No. 2 ranked Grand Valley State 75-71 Saturday evening (November 25).
GAME STORY
- After the Lakers scored the first four points of the game, the remainder of the opening quarter was extremely close. That four-point lead proved to be the biggest of the opening 10 minutes.
- GVSU eventually led 16-15 after one.
- Both teams picked up their offense in the second quarter. Northwood went up by as many as three (28-25), only to see the Lakers respond with the biggest run for either team in the half. Seven straight GVSU points gave the Lakers a 32-28 lead.
- The Lakers led 38-33 in the final seconds of the second quarter when Maizie Taylor banked in a 3-pointer from near half court to send the game to halftime with GV leading 38-36.
- Grand Valley State scored eight of the first 11 points of the third quarter to get their lead to 46-39.
- The GV lead got up to as many as nine before the Lakers advantage stood at 59-53 going to the fourth quarter.
- Northwood trailed 68-61 with less than 3:30 remaining when the Timberwolves made a big run to give themselves a chance. Eight straight points in just over a minute gave Northwood the lead 69-68 with under two minutes to go.
- GVSU responded strong to earn the win, putting up the next seven points to go up 75-69 in the final seconds before winning 75-71.
