RECAP: Keyed by a big third quarter, Northwood Women's Basketball earns an 87-76 win over Findlay Saturday (January 6).

GAME STORY

  • Findlay started the game fast, taking a 10-1 lead at the 7:05 mark of the opening quarter.
  • Northwood responded right away, scoring 12 straight points in 2:07 to go up 13-10.
  • The Timberwolves led by five two times in the first, including 25-20 at the end of the quarter.
  • Findlay did not lead in the second quarter but stayed close to the Timberwolves. After NU went up by seven early in the second, the Oilers cut the lead down to one at 31-30.
  • Northwood earned the final five points of the second to take a 42-35 lead at halftime.
  • The start of the third quarter, led by Jayla Stickland, proved to be the key to the game.
  • Strickland netted the first 11 points of the second half for Northwood in just over three minutes, giving the Timberwolves a 53-39 lead.
  • Northwood continued to control the quarter the rest of the way, pushing their lead to as many as 26 before settling for a 69-49 lead heading to the final quarter.
  • Findlay fought back in the fourth, cutting the lead down to nine on three occasions before the Timberwolves earned the 11-point victory.

  • With 20 points today, Todd moved to a tie for sixth in school history in points with 1,390. She passed Maddy Seeley (1,374) and tied NU Hall of Famer Jennifer Foster (1,390) on the all-time list. Todd is now 29 points away from moving into the top-five in school history.
