RECAP: Northwood Women's Basketball cannot overcome a slow start in a 69-62 loss at Kentucky Wesleyan Thursday night (January 11).

GAME STORY

  • The early part of the game proved to be the key part of the contest.
  • After Northwood led 5-4 with 7:16 remaining in the first, the Timberwolves managed just two points the rest of the quarter. NU was outscored 17-2 the rest of the first, allowing the Panthers to take a 22-7 lead after one.
  • KWC continued the run into the second, eventually making it a 24-2 run to make the score 29-7.
  • The Panthers lead grew to as many as 24 at 37-13 before the Timberwolves fought back. Over the final 4:47 of the second quarter, NU scored the final 15 points to cut the advantage down to 37-28 at the break.
  • Kentucky Wesleyan pushed their lead back up to 13 in the third, only to see the Timberwolves post a 10-0 run to get the lead down to three at 43-40 with 6:53 remaining.
  • The Panthers once again responded, outscoring Northwood 10-2 the rest of the way to take a 53-42 lead heading to the fourth.
  • Northwood got the lead down to five twice in the fourth but were unable to get any closer.
