Women's Golf Opens Season With Second Place Finish At LSSU

BRIMLEY, MICH. – The Northwood University women's golf team opened their 2014-15 season by placing second out of eight teams at the LSSU Women's Fall Invite Sunday-Monday (September 15-16).

The two-day, 36-hole event was held at the Wild Bluff Golf Course. It played as a 6,089 yard, par 72.

In tough conditions on a difficult course, Northwood shot team scores of 341 and 348 to finish at 689 overall. Findlay was the overall winner at 642, with Walsh placing third at 696.

Leading the way for Northwood was sophomore Grace Cannon (Liverpool, England). She shot rounds of 84 and 86 to finish with a total of 170, good for a tie for fifth place overall. Freshman Monica Gabriele (Missassauga, Ont./St. Joseph) started her career with a seventh place finish at 172 (83-89).  Danielle Little (Battle Creek, Mich./Lakeview) and Marlies Klekner-Alt (Ottawa, Canada/Newman U.) placed eighth (88-85=173) and ninth (86-88=174), respectively. A total of 43 players took part in the event.

Northwood will compete at the University of Indianapolis September 21-22.
