Women's Golf Places Third At Ashland Invitational

JEROMESVILLE, OHIO – The Northwood University women's golf team placed third out of 12 teams at the Ashland Invitational Sunday afternoon (October 5).

The two-day, 36-hole event was held at the Mohican Hills Golf Course. The course played at 6,039 yards as a par 72.

After opening with a team score of 333 on the first day, Northwood shot a season-best 312 in the second round to finish at 645 overall. The second round total was the second best score of the day and allowed Northwood to move past Ferris State to third place. Ashland was the winner at 626 (322-304), followed by Findlay at 638 (323-315) while Ferris State ended up at 660 (329-331).

Three players tied for the low score for Northwood at the event. Senior Marlies Klekner-Alt (Ottawa, Ont./E'Cole), junior Kasey Harter (Millport, N.Y./Gannon) and junior Angela Chemas (Bogota, Colombia/Grand View) all finished with two-day totals of 161. The trio tied for fifth overall out of 72 players.

Northwood will finish the fall portion of their schedule at the Findlay Invitational October 11-12.
