Women's Golf Places Three On All-GLIAC Teams

BAY CITY, MICH. – A trio of players from the Northwood University women's golf team have been named to the All-Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) teams, the league announced Thursday (April 27).

Senior Grace Cannon (Liverpool, England) earned Second Team All-GLIAC honors, while senior Danielle Little (Battle Creek, Mich./Lakeview) and junior Monica Gabriele (Mississauga, Ont./St. Joseph) were named Honorable Mention.

This marks the third time in Cannon's career she has earned All-GLIAC recognition, having been named Honorable Mention each of the last two years. She currently sports a scoring average of 78.5 this season, which is the lowest for a Northwood player since Jamie Long in the 2005-06 season (78.4). Cannon has registered five top-10 and seven top-20 finishes this season. She carded career-low 72 in the final round at the Cavalier Classic April 11.

Little earned All-GLIAC honors for the first time in her career. She currently has a scoring average of 79.2 over 22 rounds. Little has a team-best three top-five finishes this year. Earlier this season at the Northwood Invitational, Little set a new school record for lowest 36-hole score (146). She was the top performer for NU in that event where the Timberwolves set school-records for lowest 18 hole score (306) and 36-hold team score (613).

It is the first time in Gabriele's career she has claimed All-GLIAC honors. She finished her junior season with an 80.8 scoring average, the best in her career. Gabriele had five top-20 finishes this season. She shot a career-low 74 April 24 in the first round of the Perry Park Spring Fling, an event she placed 11th overall out of 101 players.

Northwood is currently ranked eighth in the East region. They will compete at the NCAA Super Regional May 8-10 in Canton, Ohio.
