INSIDE THE EVENT (MEDAL MATCH PLAY SEMIFINALS)

  • The format of the event takes the top-four teams after 36-holes of stroke play and advances them to the medal match play semifinal round.
  • Medal match play consists of the five individual players each team's lineup facing off in one-on-one matches. First team to win three matches takes the overall victory.
  • No. 2 Northwood took on third-seeded Wayne State in the semifinals
  • WSU was the better team in the early matches, winning the first two matches out for the day. NU's Ines Dorado and Tyler Kautz shot rounds of 75 and 81, respectively in those contests.
  • Northwood picked up a vital one-stroke win in the third slot thanks to Morgan Colby, who carded an 81.
  • The Timberwolves controlled the final two matches of the day, as Sydni Harding (71) won by five shots and Sufna Gill (77) earned a victory by four shots.

NORTHWOOD NOTES

  • This is the first time Northwood has advanced to the finals of the GLIAC Tournament. NU had advanced to the semifinals in each of the last two years but had lost each time.
  • Gill's 77 in the semifinals is the low round of her career at Northwood.

UP NEXT

  • Northwood will face top-seeded Grand Valley State in the finals. GVSU defeated Saginaw Valley 5-0 in the other semifinal. The finals will begin at 8 a.m.
