Women's Soccer Drops 2-1 Contest At Findlay

The Northwood University women's soccer team wrapped up the regular season with a 2-1 loss at Findlay Sunday afternoon (October 28).

Northwood is now 6-9-1 overall, 6-6-1 in the GLIAC.  Findlay improves to 8-8-1 overall, 8-4-1 in the GLIAC.

Findlay controlled the play in the first half and netted the lone goal in the opening 45 minutes.  UF's Emily Beddoes scored in the 39th minute to send the game to the break with the Oilers leading 1-0.  Findlay finished with a 10-3 advantage in shots and a 5-2 edge in corners in the half.

The Timberwolves fought back early in the second half, as Megan Murdoch (Dewitt, Mich.) netted the equalizer at the 53:21 mark.  Murdoch put home a rebound off a shot from Amanda Watson (Oregon, Ohio/Clay) that went off the post to level the score 1-1.

Findlay scored what proved to be the game-winner just over four minutes after the Murdoch goal , scoring at 57:33.  The Timberwolves got just two shots following the Findlay goal.

For the match, Findlay finished with a 17-10 advantage in shots and a 7-0 edge in corner kicks.  Freshman keeper Julie Shields (Berkley, Mich.) made 10 saves in the loss.

Northwood will travel to Grand Valley State for the opening round of the GLIAC Tournament Tuesday afternoon (October 30).   Match time is set for 2 p.m.
