Women's Soccer Falls 2-1 In Double Overtime To Ohio Dominican

The Northwood University women's soccer team dropped a 2-1 double overtime contest to Ohio Dominican Friday afternoon (October 4).

Northwood falls to 4-3-1 overall, 3-2 in the GLIAC. Ohio Dominican improves to 5-3-2 overall, 2-2-1 in the GLIAC.

The Timberwolves got on the board first in the 34th minute.  Allison Carroll (Grand Blanc, Mich.) put in a ball in clean off a set piece from about 24 yards out, putting the Timberwolves up 1-0.  That goal proved to be the lone tally of the first half.  Stats in the first half were very even, as both teams finished with six shots in the opening 45 minutes.

The score remained 1-0 until there were just under 15 minutes remaining in the game.  After Northwood missed an opportunity to clear, ODU put home a ball off a deflection to level the score 1-1. Neither team scored again in regulation, sending the game to overtime.  Both teams finished with the nine shots overall heading into extra time.

Both teams struggled to generate any offense until the 105th minute, when ODU put in a ball off another NU missed clearance. That shot for the Panthers was the only shot for either team in the nearly 15 minutes played in overtime.

Overall, ODU finished with a 10-9 edge in shots.  Northwood finished with a 4-2 edge in corner kicks.

Northwood will host Ashland Sunday afternoon (October 6).  Match time is set for Noon.
