Women's Soccer Falls At Wisconsin-Parkside 3-0

The Northwood University women's soccer team opened their 2014 season with a 3-0 loss at Wisconsin-Parkside Friday night (September 5). This was the season-opener for the Rangers as well.

The Rangers opened the match with pressure, netting the first goal just over three minutes into the game. Parkside continued the advantage, netting two additional goals in the first 45 min. Junior goalkeeper Julie Shields (Berkley, Mich. / Berkley) recorded five saves in the opening period. The Timberwolves were out-shot 14-1 in the first half.

For the match, Shields totaled 11 saves on 24 shots by the Rangers. NU's Shannon Brown (Lapeer, Mich. / Lapeer West) tallied two shots for the Timberwolves, while Wisc.-Parkside finished with a 24-2 advantage. The Rangers also totaled eight corner kicks, to Northwood's two.
