Women's Soccer Earns 2-1 Victory At Tiffin

TIFFIN, OHIO - The Northwood University women's soccer team earned their first GLIAC win with a 2-1 Tiffin 2-1 victory on Friday afternoon (October 24).

The Timberwolves are now to 2-10-1 overall, 1-8 in the GLIAC. The Dragons fall to 2-13 on the year, 1-8 in the GLIAC.

NU connected on their fifth shot of the match at 15:03 with Kayla Trevino (Findlay, Ohio) beating the keeper to the left. Trevino's fourth goal of her early career put the Timberwolves ahead for the remainder of the half. NU held an advantage in shots (7-6) and corner kicks (3-1) for the opening period.

The Dragons scored the equalizer in the 71st minute on a rebounded shot. Fighting back, Northwood was able to take three shots in the last five minutes of the match. Sophomore Jessica Flores (Tujunga, Calif. / Verdugo Hills) found the back of the net off a corner kick to put the Timberwolves ahead 2-1. Flores' goal came at 88:42.

For the match, Northwood slightly out-shot Tiffin 14-13 and registered eight corner kicks. Julie Shields (Berkley, Mich. / Berkley) recorded six saves in the match.

The Timberwolves will travel to Findlay on Sunday (October 26). Match is set to begin at Noon.
