Women's Soccer Drops 4-1 Contest To Ferris State In GLIAC Tournament

BIG RAPIDS, MICH. – The Northwood University women's soccer team falls 4-1 at Ferris State Tuesday afternoon (November 3) in the first round of the GLIAC Tournament.

The Timberwolves finish the season 6-9-1 overall, 6-6 in the GLIAC. The Bulldogs are now 14-4-1 on the year, 9-2-1 in the GLIAC and advance to the Semifinals of the Tournament to face Ashland on Friday (Nov. 6).

After conceding a goal in the ninth minute, Northwood didn't give up. NU kept things interesting, matching the ten shots taken by the Bulldogs and continuing the offensive threat with five corner kicks but were unable to find the back of the net in the opening period. The Timberwolves eventually trailed 4-0 at the half.

NU continued to fight throughout the second half, registering an additional 15 shots (six on goal). The Timberwolves got on the board in the 73rd minute, as junior Jessica Flores (San Diego, Calif. / Verdugo Hills) netted her seventh goal of the season on a rebound in the box.

Northwood was able to generate plenty of scoring opportunities, as the Timberwolves maintained advantage in shots (25-24) and corner kicks (5-3) but were unable to capitalize.
