Women's Soccer Remains Unbeaten With 5-0 Win At Purdue Northwest

RECAP: Women's soccer wins its fifth straight game to open the season, downing Purdue Northwest 5-0 to start conference play Friday afternoon (September 17).

GAME HIGHLIGHTS

  • Northwood got on the board less than eight minutes into the game. Juliana Paoletti took a feed from Abigail Fowler and beat the keeper low to the left to go up 1-0.
  • The Timberwolves doubled their lead in the 24th minute, thanks again to Paoletti. This time, it was Jessica Piper who had the assist to make the score 2-0.
  • Just before halftime, Northwood pushed their lead to three, thanks to Peyton Starner. Her unassisted goal pushed the advantage to 3-0 at the break.
  • NU controlled the play in the opening half, out-shooting the Pride 9-0 while holding a 3-0 edge in corner kicks.
  • Fowler got on the board just 31 seconds into the second half. Paoletti picked up the assist to make the score 4-0.
  • Paoletti finished the hat trick in the 64th minute off a pass from Isabel Anderson to round out the scoring.

  • Through five games, Northwood has now scored 21 goals. Last spring, Northwood scored nine goals in nine games. In NU's last full season in 2019, the Timberwolves scored 22 goals in 18 games. They finished 9-9 overall in 2021.
