Coming For More: Women's Soccer Looks For Fast Start In First Year In The GMAC

MIDLAND, MICH. – The Northwood University women's soccer team announced its schedule for the upcoming 2022 season Monday afternoon (August 8).

Head Coach Chelsea Hunter enters her fifth year at the helm and currently holds a 24-36-2 overall mark over the last four years.

The Timberwolves come off a season in which Hunter led Northwood to a 10-9 overall record in the 2021 fall season, marking the first winning season for Northwood since 2004. NU's six conference wins were the most in program history.

This will be NU's first season competing within the Great Midwest Athletic Conference.

The women's soccer program will play a few teams they haven't encountered before in their 28-year existence. Teams like Trevecca Nazarene and Kentucky Wesleyan will make their first men's soccer appearances on Dean Field this season.

In the Timberwolves' 28 years of women's soccer, the navy and white hold a 40-65-4 mark against current GMAC schools.

Two of Northwood's three leading goal scorers from last season return. Juliana Paoletti (Monroe, Mich.) and Abbie Fowler (Midland, Mich.) return to aid the Timberwolves' offensive firepower. Paoletti currently sits tied for ninth in total points in school history with 48 (22 goals, four assists).

Key defensive specialist Savannah Wallace (Saginaw, Mich.) also returns for her fifth year. Northwood's defense only allowed 27 goals last season, good enough for a 1.42 goal against average.
