RECAP: The Northwood women's soccer team finished their three-match homestand with their third straight shutout victory. Northwood would blank the visiting Saints from Thomas More on Wednesday (October 4) 2-0.

GAME HIGHLIGHTS

  • A sluggish match throughout, at the break teams were all but even in shots and corners. NU had the advantage in shots 5-4, but TMU led in corner opportunities 2-1.
  • Coming out of halftime it was more of the same, until the 71'. Northwood's offense began to pressure as Thomas More's accidental handball just outside the 18-yard box granted NU a free kick-scoring chance. Hannah Jatczak's shot from the spot split two TMU defenders on the left side to score past an outstretched goalkeeper, giving NU the 1-0 lead.
  • The Timberwolves offense continued to pressure late in the second half.  Midfielder, Mia Thomson's cross into the scrum ten minutes after Northwood's first goal caused chaos in the 6-yard box. Brooke Honeycutt's first shot was saved before it dribbled off to the left, she then scored off the deflection to put NU up 2-0 in the 81'.
  • Northwood's defense led them to their third straight shutout and seventh victory over the last eight games. The Timberwolves are allowing just one goal a contest this season, fifth-best in the G-MAC this season.
