RECAP: Women's soccer earned its 10th win of the season on Saturday (October 14) at Walsh. This marks the first time in NU history that the program has won ten matches in three straight seasons. A second-half outburst of three goals netted the Timberwolves the come-from-behind victory, 3-2.

GAME HIGHLIGHTS

  • The Cavaliers jumped out to the early lead 15 minutes into the match. A Cavs forward broke the middle of the NU defense on a breakaway that was knocked passed an outstretched NU goalkeeper.
  • Northwood and Walsh were even in shots (5-5), but WU had the edge in corner opportunities going into the halftime break.
  • Northwood Carly Boyd's play-making ability was on full display as a cross to the left post to Stephanie O'Keefe would tie it at 1-1. The Timberwolves would tie it up in the 54' coming out of the break.
  • A few minutes later the Cavs would be awarded a penalty kick following an accident handball by the Timberwolves. The Cavs would capitalize to take the lead back 2-1 in the 57'.
  • Boyd showed off her ball placement once again moments after the Cavs took the lead. An almost identical play to NU's first goal. This time Juliana Paoletti was the benefactor of the cross. Paoletti would score her team-leading sixth goal of the season in the 59'.
  • The Timberwolves later scored the match-sealing goal off the foot of Brooke Honeycutt. This was another left-to-right cross back into the middle by O'Keefe to give Honeycutt the crease to score it inside the left post in the 74'.
  • Northwood's defense would hold for the 3-2 victory, sealing their third straight 10-win season. This is the first time in program history that the Timberwolves have had three consecutive 10-win seasons.
  • The Timberwolves are 10-0-1 over the past 11 matches
  • With their ninth conference victory, the Timberwolves stay undefeated in conference play and have matched the most conference victories in a single season (nine – 2022) in program history.
