Women's Tennis Opens Season with 9-0 Win Over Walsh

The Northwood University women's tennis team opened their 2013-14 season with a 9-0 win over Walsh Friday afternoon (September 6).

The contest was the opener for both teams.

Northwood opened the match by sweeping the three doubles matches, dropping a total of just nine games in the three contests.  NU then went on to win all six singles matches without dropping a set.

The match also marked the return of former GLIAC Player of the Year Darina Berkova.  She played for three seasons for the Timberwolves from the 2007-08 through the 2009-10 seasons, going 44-5 in GLIAC play at the No. 1 singles positions.  Berkova is back at Northwood earning her Master's Degree.

Northwood was scheduled to take on Lake Erie Saturday, but the Storm are forfeiting the match.  The Timberwolves will now face Malone Sunday (September 8).  Match time is set for 1 p.m.
