Women's Tennis Defeats Wayne State 6-3

The Northwood University women's tennis team opened the home portion of their schedule with an important 6-3 win over Wayne State Wednesday (September 11).

Northwood improves to 4-0 overall and in the GLIAC.  Wayne State, one of the top teams in the GLIAC, falls to 2-1 overall and in the league.

The Timberwolves jumped out to a quick lead in doubles thanks to an 8-1 win at the No. 2 doubles position. NU had the early lead at the No. 1 slot, but the Warriors came back to take the match 8-6.  Northwood then took the lead 2-1 heading into singles with a 9-7 win at the No. 3 doubles positions.

All six singles matches were decided in straight sets, with Northwood winning at the No. 1, No. 3, No. 5 and No. 6 positions.

Northwood returns to action Friday (September 13) with a home match against Hillsdale.  First serve is set for 1 p.m.
