Women's Tennis Defeats Michigan Tech 7-2
HOUGHTON, MICH. - The Northwood University women's tennis team earned a 7-2 victory at Michigan Tech University Saturday afternoon (September 20).
Northwood is now 4-0 overall and in the GLIAC. The Huskies fall to 1-6 on the year.
The team of Anna Aniskina (Odesa, Ukraine) and Margarita Asatryan (Yaroslavl, Russia) won the No. 2 doubles position 8-5. Freshman Oleisa Riabchuk (Kaluga, Russia) and sophomore Anastasiia Kazub (Ozery, Russia) earned an 8-1 victory at the No. 3 doubles spot, taking a 2-1 advantage into singles play.
The Timberwolves dominated singles, winning five positions in straight sets. Anastasia Puchkina (Seversk, Russia) defeated the Huskies' No. 2 6-4, 6-4; while in the No. 4 position, Kazub dropped just a single game (6-1, 6-0).
Northwood returns to action tomorrow morning (September 20) at 10 a.m., as they travel to Lake Superior State.
