Women's Tennis Defeats Walsh 7-1

MIDLAND, MICH. – The Northwood University women's tennis team moved to 7-0 on the season with a 7-1 win over Walsh Friday afternoon (October 3).

The Timberwolves are also 7-0 in the GLIAC. Walsh falls to 4-3 overall, 4-3 in the GLIAC.

With the rainy weather in the Midland area, the match was moved inside to the Midland Community Tennis Center. With limited court time available, the teams played singles first. NU won five of the six matches to go up 5-1. Two of the Northwood victories came in three sets.

Northwood then posted a pair of easy wins in doubles, taking the No. 1 match 8-2 and the No. 3 match 8-3. The match at the No. 2 position was unfinished due to the available court time expiring.

For the day, Alisa Reshetnikova, Oleisa Riabchuk, Anastasiia Kazub, Margarita Asatryan and Maria Avksenenko all went 2-0.

Northwood will host Ohio Dominican Saturday morning (October 4). The match will be played at the Midland Community Tennis Center and will begin at Noon.
