Women's Tennis Falls In Round of 16 To No. 8 Columbus State 6-1

SURPRISE, ARIZONA – The Northwood University women's tennis team saw its 2015 season come to an end with a 6-1 loss to No. 8 Columbus State Wednesday afternoon (May 13).

The match was in the Round of 16 in the NCAA Division II Tennis Tournament.

Columbus State improves to 23-3 with the win. NU ends the year at 19-3.

The Cougars jumped out to a quick 2-0 lead in doubles thanks to winning at the No.1 and No. 2 positions. The Timberwolves got on the board at the No. 3 slot thanks to a 9-8 win by Anastasiia Kazub and Oleisa Riabchuk to make the score 2-1 heading to singles.

Columbus State took control of the singles matches right away, winning the first set at all six matches. CSU picked up straight-set wins at No. 2, No. 3, No. 4 and No. 6 singles to close out the match. The No. 2 and No. 3 matches finished at the same time, giving the extra point to the Cougars.
