Women's Tennis Earns Dramatic 5-4 Win Over Tiffin

MIDLAND, MICH. - In a matchup of two of the best teams in the GLIAC, the Northwood University women's tennis team earned a 5-4 win over Tiffin to open the 2015-16 season.

Northwood got off to a 2-1 lead after doubles, thanks to winning at the No. 1 and No. 3 positions. Carol Arnez-Mercado (Santa Cruz, Bolivia ) and Anna Aniskina (Odesa, Ukraine ) claimed an 8-2 win at the No. 1 slot for the Timberwolves, while Olesia Riabchuk (Kaluga, Russia ) and Anastasiia Kazub (Ozery, Russia ) won 8-1 at the No. 3 position.

The Timberwolves would go on to split the six singles matches, with three wins to close out the victory. Northwood earned wins at the No. 2, 4 and 6 positions in finish the match.

No. 4 singles spot decided the match, as Kazub earned a 4-6, 6-2, 6-1 comeback win to clinch the victory for the Timberwolves.

Northwood will host Findlay Sunday morning (September 6). First serve is set for 10 a.m.
