Women's Tennis Defeats Ferris State 7-2

BIG RAPIDS, MICH. – The Northwood University women's tennis team bounced back from their first loss of the season with a 7-2 win over Ferris State Wednesday afternoon (September 16).

Both teams are now 3-1 overall and in the GLIAC.

Northwood picked up two wins and nearly completed the sweep in doubles. Northwood won 8-4 at the No. 1 position thanks to the team of Carol Arnez-Mercado and Anna Aniskina. The duo of Alisa Reshetnikova and Maria Avksenenko earned an 8-3 win at the No. 2 slot. FSU's lone win came in the No. 3 match in a tiebreaker.

The Timberwolves then picked up five straight wins in singles, four of which came in straight sets. The Bulldogs win came at the No. 2 position after NU retired.

On the day Arnez-Mercado, Kazub, and Aniskina all went 2-0.

Northwood returns home Saturday (September 19) for a match against Michigan Tech. First serve is set for 2 p.m.
