Women's Tennis Sweeps Michigan Tech 9-0

MIDLAND, MICH. – The Northwood University women's tennis team picked up a 9-0 win over Michigan Tech Saturday afternoon (September 19).

Northwood is now 4-1 overall, 4-1 in the GLIAC. Michigan Tech falls to 1-4 overall, 1-4 in the GLIAC.

The Timberwolves earned three wins in doubles, thanks to the teams of Carol Arnez-Mercado/Anna Aniskina (8-2 – No. 1 doubles), Alisa Reshetnikova/Maria Avksenenko (8-4 – No. 2 doubles) and Olesia Riabchuk/Anastasiia Kazub (8-5 – No. 3 doubles). That gave Northwood a 3-0 lead heading to singles.

NU dominated singles play, winning all six matches in straight sets. MTU won just 10 games in the 12 sets completed.

On the day, Arnez-Mercado, Reshetnikova, Riabchuk, Kazub and Avksenenko all went 2-0 for the Timberwolves.

Northwood will host Lake Superior State Sunday (September 20). First serve is set for 10 a.m.
