Women's Tennis Downs Wayne State 6-2

MIDLAND, MICH. – The Northwood University women's tennis team clinched the No. 2 seed in the upcoming GLIAC Tournament with a 6-2 win over Wayne State Tuesday afternoon (October 13).

Northwood, who has now won seven straight matches, is now 9-1 overall and in the GLIAC. Wayne State stands at 8-2 overall, 7-2 in the GLIAC.

NU could still finish tied with Wayne State in the standings, but with today's result the Timberwolves would win all tiebreakers with the Warriors.

The Timberwolves picked up two quick wins in doubles to go up 2-0 early in the match. WSU responded with an 8-6 win at No. 2 doubles to send the contest to singles with Northwood leading 2-1.

Northwood posted four wins in singles to close out the victory. NU won four of the five singles matches while Wayne State's lone win came at the No. 1 position. The Timberwolves led 

On the day, Olesia Riabchuk, Anastasiia Kazub and Olesia Riabchuk all went 2-0 for Northwood.

The Timberwolves will wrap up the GLIAC regular season with a match against Saginaw Valley State Saturday (October 17). Match time is set for 2 p.m.
