Women's Tennis Defeats SVSU 5-1 In GLIAC Quarterfinals
MIDLAND, MICH. – The Northwood University women's tennis team opened play in the GLIAC Tournament with a 5-1 win over Saginaw Valley State Friday night (October 23).
Northwood, the No. 2 seed, is now 11-1 overall. Seventh-seeded Saginaw Valley falls to 5-7 with the loss.
All three doubles matches finished with a final score of 8-5. Northwood picked up wins at the No. 1 and No. 2 positions, while SVSU took the No. 3 match.
With the score 2-1 heading into singles, Northwood picked up three straight-set wins to earn the victory. The Timberwolves won at the No. 2, No. 3 and No. 5 positions to advance to the semifinals.
Northwood will take on No. 3 seed Wayne State Saturday (October 24). Match time is set for 3:45 p.m.
