Women's Tennis Falls To Tusculum 6-3

HILTON HEAD, S.C. – The No. 19 Northwood University women's tennis team saw its 12-match winning streak come to an end with a 6-3 loss to No. 47 Tusculum Tuesday (March 8).

Northwood is now 14-2 overall on the season. Tusculum improves to 8-1.

The Timberwolves got off to a good start in the match, picking up two wins in the three doubles matches to take a 2-1 lead heading into singles. But the injury bug hit Northwood, as NU's top two players (No. 1 player Carol Arnez-Mercado, No. 2 player Alisa Reshetnikova) each were forced to sit out singles. Those injuries put Northwood one player short in their lineup, making NU forfeit at the No. 6 singles position. Tusculum went on to pick up four wins in the five remaining singles matches to claim the win.

Northwood will return to action Thursday (March 10) against Davis & Elkins.  First serve is set for 8 p.m.
