Women's Tennis Earns Bid To NCAA Division II Tournament
2016 NCAA Division II Women's Tennis Tournament
INDIANAPOLIS, IND. – The Northwood University women's tennis team has earned a bid to the NCAA Division II Tennis Tournament.
The field was announced by the NCAA Tuesday night (May 3).
This marks the 17th straight year Northwood has reached the NCAA Tournament and the 19th time overall for the Timberwolves to make the field.
Northwood (17-3) is the No. 4 seed in the Midwest Region. The Timberwolves will take on Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference rival and No. 5 seed Grand Valley State (23-6) in the opening round. This will mark the third time this season the two teams have met – GVSU picked up a 6-3 win September 13 before NU claimed a 5-2 victory October 25 in the GLIAC Tournament Championship match.
The Northwood/GVSU match will take place Saturday (May 7). The winner of the match will face top-seeded Drury (18-3), who will also host the event. The second round match will take place Sunday (May 8). Times for the matches have not been determined.
