Indoor Track & Field Teams Compete In The Tiffin Dragon Open
TIFFIN, OHIO – The Northwood University indoor track and field teams traveled to the Tiffin Dragon Open on Saturday (January 23).
There was no team scoring in the meet, featuring Tiffin, Ashland, Bluffton, Findlay, Oberlin, Ohio Dominican, Ohio State Running Club, Pitt Club, Wayne State, among others.
On the men's side, the Timberwolves finished five in the top six for the 5,000 meter run 16:33.36 for sixth place, Josh Plishke (Arlington Heights, Ill. / Hersey) ran 16:12.75 to finish fourth, Will Moench (Holland, Mich. / West Ottawa) clocked 16:09.54 for a third place finish, Sammy Tanui(Eldoret, Kenya / Universal) took second at 15:56.03 and Tyler Jensen (Ovid, Mich. / Ovid-Elsie) won the event with a time of 15:53.78. Jordan Fields (Lauderhill, Fla. / Blanche Ely) and Kyle Vandersyde (Hopkins, Mich. / Hopkins) finished second and third in the 60 meter hurdles at 8.57 and 8.64, respectively. Tray Thompson (Fort Worth, Tx. / Duncanville) took second in the 800 meter run at 1:59.13. Jeremy Wilchcombe (Freeport, Bahamas / St. Georges) took fourth in the triple jump with a mark of 14.28 meters, while John King (Mesick, Mich. / Mesick) finished fifth in the 400 meter dash with a time of 52.66.
On the women's side, Elaina Meadows (Schoolcraft, Mich. / Schoolcraft) won the long jump with a mark of 5.66 meters. Chloe Thiel (Plainwell, Mich. / Plainwell) finished second in the 5,000 meter run with a time of 19:24.05, while Jenny Frantz (Ovid, Mich. / Ovid-Elsie) clocked 19:54.36 for a fifth place finish.
The Timberwolves will travel to the Mike Lintz Alumni Open in Allendale, Mich. on January 30.
