Indoor Track & Field Teams Compete In NU-SVSU-WSU Triangular Meet

UNIVERSITY CENTER, MICH. – The Northwood University indoor track and field teams competed in the NU-SVSU-WSU Triangular Meet on Friday (February 6).

The women's team placed third with 23 points, while Saginaw Valley State won the meet with 54 points. Kara Young (Zephyrhills, Fla. / Zephyrhills) finished second in the 60 meter dash with a time of 7.79, while Claudia Coleman (Keller,Tx / Fossil Ridge (NU-Texas)) also took second clocking 25.38 in the 200 meter dash. In the 800, Jenny Frantz (Ovid, Mich. / Ovid-Elsie) and Chloe Thiel (Plainwell, Mich. / Plainwell) finished second and third with times of 2:30.72 and 2:34.75, respectively. Frantz also finished third in the mile at 5:23.80, while Jennifer McKenna (Orchard Lake, Mich. / Walled Lake Northern) took second at 5:17.22. Finishing third, Hunter Perry (Moran, Mich. / Rudyard) threw the weight 14.94 meters.

On the men's side, the Cardinals again won the meet with 69.5 points while NU finished with 59.5 points. Senior Jeremy Wilchcombe (Freeport, Bahamas / St. Georges(NU-TX)) took second with an NCAA provisional qualifying triple jump mark of 14.46 meters. Paul Evans (Lenox, Mich. / New Haven) won the weight throw with a new NCAA provisional mark of 17.67 meters, while Cody Patterson (Wolverine Lake, Mich. / Walled Lake Central) finished third at 14.65 meters. Tray Thompson (Fort Worth, Tx. / Duncanville) won the 400 meter dash at 49.11, while John King ran 51.17 to finish third. Another first place finisher was Josh Gardner (Howell, Mich. / Howell) in the 200 meter dash (22.91) and Jalen Hodgson (Kalamazoo, Mich. / Parchment) ran 23.70 to finish second. Northwood's 4x400 meter relay team of John King (Mesick, Mich. / Mesick), Wilchcombe, Shane Barron and Thompson won the event with a time of 3:22.12.

The Timberwolves will be traveling back to Allendale, Mich. for the GVSU Big Meet next weekend on Friday and Saturday (February 12 + 13).
