Indoor Track & Field Teams Travel To Hillsdale Tuneup

HILLSDALLE, MICH. – The Northwood University indoor track and field teams competed at the Hillsdale Tune Up on Saturday (February 20).

There was no team scoring in the meet, featuring Adrian, Albion, IPFW, Oakland, Olivet, Spring Arbor, among others.

Leading the way for the Timberwolves was sophomore Kara Young (Zephyrhills, Fla. / Zephyrhills) with an NCAA provisional qualifying time of 7.70 in the 60 meter dash. With that mark, Young also improves her second best time in school history. Finishing fourth for NU wasKaitlyn Marsh (Munising, Mich. / Munising) in the 400 at 1:04.74, Dana Turner (Maywood, Ill. / Walther Lutheran) in the long jump with a mark of 5.05 meters, and Hunter Perry (Moran, Mich. / Rudyard) in the weight throw at 14.89 meters. Heaven Powell (Port Huron, Mich. / Port Huron) finished sixth in the high jump with a jump of 1.52 meters, while Julia Cherwinski(Saginaw, Mich. / Heritage) ran 11:49.57 in the 3,000 meter run for seventh place.

On the men's side, Paul Evans (Lenox, Mich. / New Haven) led the Timberwolves with a weight throw of 17.13 meters. Cody Patterson (Wolverine Lake, Mich. / Walled Lake Central) andExhildi Prekaj (Walled Lake, Mich. / Central) followed in fourth and fifth place, respectively with throws of 14.92 and 14.27 meters. Austin Plamondon (Traverse City, Mich. / Central) took ninth with a throw of 13.13 meters. Prekaj also threw the shot put 14.40 meters for fourth place, while Patterson hit 13.90 meters for sixth. Antonio Davis (Detroit, Mich. / Oak Park) jumped 1.86 meters in the high jump to finish sixth. Also finishing sixth for NU was Shane Barron with a time of 52.19 in the 400 meter dash. David Morrow (Battle Creek, Mich. / Lakeview) finished seventh in the 60 meter hurdles with a preliminary time of 9.08 and finals time of 9.14.

Northwood travels to Tiffin, Ohio next weekend for the GLIAC Championships (February 27 & 28).
