Volleyball Earns 3-1 Win Over Findlay

The Northwood University volleyball team extended their winning streak to eight games with a 3-1 win over Findlay Friday night (October 5). Set scores were 24-26, 26-24, 25-16, 25-15.

Northwood is now 13-3 overall, 8-0 in the GLIAC. Findlay falls to 8-6 overall, 5-3 in the GLIAC.

The Timberwolves dropped a close first set, thanks to a late rally. The Oilers scored four of the final five points of the set to go up 1-0. Findlay hit .281 in the set (14-5-32) while holding Northwood to a .132 clip (13-8-38).

It appeared Findlay was going to go up 2-0, leading 23-19. But Northwood went on a big run at the end of the set, scoring seven of the final eight points to even the match 1-1. Neither offense was sharp in the set, as the two teams combined for 15 errors.

The Timberwolves used the momentum from the comeback win in the second and dominated the final two sets. Northwood hit .339 over that stretch, finishing with 25 kills and just six errors. Findlay was held to a .131 clip (20-12-61).

For the match, Northwood hit .230 (56-24-139). Findlay finished at .149 (42-22-134). NU finished with a 63-49 edge in digs and held a 5-1 edge in aces.

Juliia Pakhomenko (Donetsk, Ukraine) led the way for the Timberwolves. She had 20 kills, eight digs and five blocks.

Northwood will host Wayne State Saturday (October 6). Match time is set for 4 p.m,
