Volleyball Drops Pair Of 3-1 Matches At Lindenwood Invitational

ST. CHARLES, MO. – The Northwood University volleyball team dropped a pair of 3-1 matches Friday afternoon (September 11). NU lost to Emporia State (25-23, 25-13, 23-25, 25-22) before falling to Missouri-St. Louis (26-24, 17-25, 25-22, 25-20).

The matches  were a part of the Lindenwood Invitational.

Northwood is now 2-4 on the season. Emporia State is now 4-2, while UMSL stands at 1-5.

Against ESU, Northwood finished with more kills (57-50), a higher attack percentage (.213-.206) and more digs (58-53) but serving proved to be a big key to the match. Northwood had four aces and 11 errors while Emporia State had seven aces and zero errors. ESU also finishes with a 10-6 advantage in blocks overall.

Three Timberwolves finished with at least 10 kills in the match, led by Allison Getty () with 14. Krysta Kramer (Lansing, Mich./Grand Ledge) totaled 12 kills and 11 digs, while Chelsea Watson (Bowling Green, Ohio/Niagara U.) had 10.

In the UMSL match, Northwood flipped how they performed from earlier in the day against ESU. NU held a big advantage in aces (7-2) but was out-hit by the Tritons .144-.133. Blocking played a big part in the match as well – UMSL had nine blocks to four for Northwood.

Kramer, Getty and Watson again led the way for Northwood. This time Kramer led Northwood with 14 kills while adding 19 digs. Getty ended up with 13 kills, five aces and 23 digs in the match. Watson ended up with 11 kills.

Northwood will finish the event with matches against Lindenwood and Arkansas-Fort Smith. The Lindenwood match is at 10:30 a.m. while the Arkansas-Fort Smith match begins at 4:30 p.m.
