Volleyball Drops Pair At Lindenwood Invitational

ST. CHARLES, MO. – The Northwood University volleyball team dropped a pair of 3-0 matches at the Lindenwood Invitational Saturday afternoon (September 12). NU lost to host Lindenwood (25-20, 25-17, 25-12) before falling to Arkansas-Fort Smith (25-15, 25-13, 25-14).

Northwood is now 2-6 on the season.

The Timberwolves had a hard time slowing down Lindenwood in the opening match. The Lions hit .354 overall, finishing with 44 kills, nine errors on 99 attempts. LU hit above .300 in all three sets. Meanwhile, Northwood ended up at .129 overall (31-18-101).

Freshman Colleen Mayer (Troy, Mich./Athens) led the way for Northwood with eight kills in the match. Krysta Kramer (Lansing, Mich./Grand Ledge) added seven kills.

Mistakes cost the Timberwolves in the game against Arkansas-Fort Smith, as Northwood finished with 27 attack errors. Arkansas-Fort Smith had the same number of kills as the Timberwolves (27) but committed just 10 errors.

Northwood will travel to Northern Michigan to open Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference play. That contest will be Friday (September 18) at 7 p.m.
