Volleyball Drops 3-0 Match At Michigan Tech

HOUGHTON, MICH. – The Northwood University volleyball team dropped a 3-0 match at Michigan Tech Saturday afternoon (September 19). Set scores were 25-16, 25-21, 25-23.

Northwood is now 3-7 overall, 1-0 in the GLIAC. Michigan Tech remains unbeaten on the season, now standing at 10-0 overall, 2-0 in the GLIAC.

Michigan Tech came out fired up at the start of the match, scoring 10 of the first 11 points to take control of the opening set. NU got no closer than six points the rest of the way.

Northwood and Michigan Tech were close throughout the second set until MTU took over down the stretch. Northwood trailed 20-19 only to see the Huskies five of the final seven points to take the set.

The Timberwolves were in good shape to take the third set, leading 23-22. But MTU finished strong once again, scoring the final three points of the day to take the match.

The Huskies offense was efficient throughout the match, finishing with a .340 attack percentage. MTU ended up with 44 kills and nine errors on 103 attempts. Meanwhile. Northwood ended up at .184, totaling 35 kills and 16 errors in 103 attempts.

Allison Getty () led Northwood with 12 kills and 13.0 points. She also added nine digs. Krysta Kramer (Lansing, Mich./Grand Ledge) added 10 kills.

Northwood will finish their weekend with a match at Lake Superior State Sunday afternoon (September 20).  First serve is set for 2 p.m.
