Volleyball Falls To Northern Michigan 3-0

MIDLAND, MICH. – The Northwood University volleyball team dropped a 3-0 match to Northern Michigan to wrap up the 2015 season Saturday afternoon (November 14). Set scores were 25-23, 25-13, 25-13.

Northwood finishes the season 12-17 overall, 8-10 in the GLIAC. Northern Michigan improves to 21-9 overall, 10-8 in the GLIAC.

The opening set was tight throughout. NMU led 12-8 early, but Northwood fought back to level the score at 14-14. It was still tied at 23-23 when the Wildcats scored the final two points to earn the set. Northern Michigan hit .256 (18-8-39) in the set while Northwood ended up at .100 (9-6-30).

NMU dominated the final two sets, using big runs in each frame to earn the win. Northern Michigan scored the first seven points of the second set and then scored seven straight with the score tied 11-11 in the third set. The Wildcats hit .267 (11-3-30) in the second and .360 (12-3-25) in the third, while the Timberwolves hit -.037 (8-9-27) and .032 (6-5-31), respectively.

For the match, Northwood hit .034 (23-20-88) while Northern Michigan finished at .287 (41-14-94). NMU finished with a 40-36 edge in digs and an 8-5 edge in blocks for the match.

Allison Getty (Wayland, Mich.) led Northwood with seven kills for the match. Seniors Meghan Cleary (Howell, Mich./Farmington Hills Mercy) and Krysta Kramer (Lansing, Mich./Grand Ledge) each added four kills for the Timberwolves.
