Volleyball Drops 3-1 Match To Grand Valley State

RECAP: Northwood took the opening set but dropped a 3-1 match to Grand Valley State Friday night (September 17).

INSIDE THE MATCH

  • One night after downing No. 21 Ferris State in four sets, Northwood came out fast against Grand Valley State. The Timberwolves scored nine of the first 11 points of the match. GVSU got no closer than three points the rest of the set as NU took a 1-0 lead.
  • The second set was tight throughout – the score was tied 22-22 late. The Lakers came up with the final three points to level the match at one set apiece.
  • Similar to the second set, the third frame was also close. Grand Valley led 21-20 when the Lakers rattled off the final four points of the set to earn the win. The Lakers had a 6-0 edge in blocks in the third set.
  • Northwood led 19-17 in the fourth and was six points away from forcing a fifth set. But the Lakers claimed eight of the final 12 points to earn the victory.
