Volleyball Falls 3-1 At Ashland

INSIDE THE MATCH
- The opening set was close early before the Eagles broke things open. AU led 11-10 when Ashland took control, scoring 12 of the next 15 points to go up 23-13 en route to a 25-15 win. The Eagles hit .407 (13-2-27) while holding the Timberwolves to a .121 clip (10-6-33)
- While the second set was closer, Ashland led from the 5-5 point on the rest of the way. AU scored five straight points when the score was 5-5 to earn the lead for good. The Eagles continued their strong offensive attack in the 25-19 win, hitting .303 (14-4-33) while holding Northwood at .162 (13-7-37).
- The Timberwolves fought back to in the third set thanks to an improved offense and defensive performance. Northwood had 16 kills in the third and hit .222 while holding AU to a .114 mark (13-8-44). Ashland had a pair of match points in the set (24-23, 25-24), but a block by Meredith Collins and Sydney Greulich gave Northwood the set 28-26.
- Ashland responded well to the dropped third set by controlling the play in the fourth. The Eagles scored the first five and eight of the first 10 points to earn the early advantage. NU go no closer than four points after AU's 5-0 start. Ashland hit .406 (15-2-32) compared to Northwood at .000 (7-7-34).
