INSIDE THE MATCH 

  • Northwood set the tone for the night right away, scoring the first three points and seven of the first 10 overall. The end of the set saw both teams make runs – WSU got within one at 17-16, only to see Northwood score four straight to lead 21-16. Wayne State cut the lead back down to 21-19 before Northwood scored the final four points to earn the 1-0 lead at 25-21. NU finished the opening set hitting .205 (13-5-39) while holding the Warriors to a .073 clip (11-8-41).
  • A 6-0 run by Northwood put the Timberwolves on top 9-4 early in the second. The Warriors got back within two at 9-7, but that is as close as they would get the rest of the set. NU's eight-point advantage at the end of the set (25-17) matched their biggest of the set and gave Northwood a 2-0 lead. The Timberwolves hit .212 in the second (12-5-33), compared to WSU at .125 (10-6-32).
  • WS led 5-4 early in the second when the Timberwolves put up seven of the next eight points to go up 11-6. Wayne State got back within two at 15-13, but NU responded with three straight points to go up 18-13 on their way to a 25-17 win and a sweep. Both teams fell back with their hitting in the third – NU ended at .107 (10-7-28) while the Warriors hit -.050 (8-10-40).
