Volleyball Sweeps Home Opener 3-0 Over Northern Michigan

OVERVIEW – NORTHERN MICHIGAN

SCORE: Northwood Timberwolves 3, Northern Michigan Wildcats 0 (25-18, 25-19, 25-14)

RECAP: Northwood Volleyball opens the home portion of their schedule with a 3-0 sweep over Northern Michigan Friday night (September 24).

INSIDE THE MATCH 

• The Timberwolves had a hot start to the first set, jumping out to an early 6-1 lead and forcing a Wildcat timeout. Northwood held onto a comfortable lead, never allowing Northern Michigan to get closer than four points for the rest of the way, going on to win 25-18. The Timberwolves hit .150 (13-7-40) to the Wildcats' .081 (9-6-37).
• Both teams saw an even start to the first set, with the score tied at 3-3 early. From there, the Timberwolves erupted for a 11-1 run to take the 14-4 lead. Northwood never looked back, going on to win the second set 25-19. Northwood jumped up to hit .273 (16-7-33) in the set to Northern Michigan's .107 (8-5-28).
• The beginning of the third set featured yet another strong start for Northwood, with the Timberwolves taking a 5-1 advantage early on. Northwood controlled the set from start to finish, winning 25-14 to earn the home sweep. The Timberwolves had their best hitting  set of the match, ending at .368 (18-4-38). NMU ended at .156 (9-4-32).
